Agriturismo il Giardino is proud to present its new activities program for schools of the area around Florence. We have created several workshops regarding the reality of our farm, with the will to share our experience and passion with the new generations.
Arrival and presentation of the farm. With the old tractor we will reach the farm to meet its animals and feed them. We will take the eggs from the hanhouse and we will go to the garden where the farmer will teach us how to water, plant and pick the seasonal vegetables. It is possible to book only the workshop or to add lunch in the farm’s restaurant.
Arrival and presentation of the farm. Accompanied by our donkey and its packsddle we will reach the forest looking for wood and tracks, we will learn about the various species of trees and animals, and how our grandparents took the wood out of the forests. On the way back to the Agriturismo, if there is time, we will visit the educational farm and its friendly inhabitants. It is possible to book only the workshop or to add lunch in the farm’s restaurant.
Arrival and presentation of the farm. All together we will visit the farm where we will learn about the animals and their caratheristics. We will particularly pay attention to the horse: Gabrio will explain why this animal is one of the closest companions of mankind. After this we will do the Baptism of the Saddle where every child will be able to get on the horse. At the end the children will be able to ride around the arena on the pony and trap. Arrival and presentation of the farm. At the start we will guide you towards the hanhouse to look for eggs that we will use for our culinary experience. Along the road we will stop to pick the aromatic herbs and then we will make our way to the kitchen. All together we will knead the dough that will be used to make an excellent herb schiacciata and, while waiting for it to rise, with the eggs we will do a demonstration of how home made pasta is made. Every partecipant will receive a chef certificate. It is possible to book only the workshop or to add lunch in the farm’s restaurant.
Arrival and presentation of the farm. The journey starts by picking the olives and with an explanation of the old and new methods of picking olives. With the olives we will make our way to the frantoio to follow the pressing phase and learn how the oil production cycle happens. The visit finishes with a tasty olive oil bruschetta. Only available in the period between 15/10 and 15/12. It is possible to book only the workshop or to add lunch in the farm’s restaurant.
It is possible to create other activities connected with your didactic path. Every 10 children one teacher is free. we are able to provide for who suffers of food intollerances. In case there is bad weather, the activities that were planned in the open will be substituted with activities in a covered area. We remind you that the animals of the farm are in a partially closed area, so it is possible to do the activities connected with them.
